Have you ever used those fabulous smelling but overpriced hot oil treatments for shiny and smooth hair? Being the girly girl that I am I love them, so I was very excited the day I located a recipe to make it at home.

This is a perfect conditioning oil for all hair and scalp types. In addition, it makes a great body massage oil as well.

Here’s the recipe: (For your convenience I have added everything you need for this recipe to our store. Just click on the linked item to be taken to it.)

1 Tablespoon dried Chamomile Flowers

1 Tablespoon dried Rosemary

1 Tablespoon dried Horsetail

1 Cup Almond or Sesame Oil

Combine all of the ingredients in an airtight container and let stand for several days or even weeks if you have the time. Each time you walk by stir or gently shake the mixture.

Once the desired time has passed strain the oil and discard the spent herbs. Store the oil in dark glass containers in a cool and dark place. The oil will keep for 3-4 weeks.

Use the oil as a treatment for your hair, or to massage into you body or scalp.

How To Use: Wet hair first and then apply the oil, massage evenly and leave for a few minutes. Rinse and proceed with styling.

Why should I use natural oils in massage blends?

This may seem like a simple question to most, but I can assure you with the popularity of synthetic oils and their frequent cheaper costs it is not always a simple answer.

The synthetic oils, petroleum products, and mineral oils create a barrier on the skin. This may seem helpful on first read, however it is quite the opposite. The barrier on the skin does not allow your skin to breathe. Vegetable oils are closer to natural human oils and are just plain better for you.

Unfortunately, most commercial cosmetics contain mineral or synthetic oils. And if you go for a massage, a budget conscious masseuse may also be using these products. (note: Make sure if you get a massage that you ask for natural vegetable oil)

Do not skimp on this for the recipes you make at home.
